Childcare Supervision – FETAC Level 6 in Childcare Supervision


This is an advanced course suited to participants with previous childcare training who wish to develop a career in childcare at supervisory management level. This course allows learners to complete the components necessary for a Level 6 programme. For information on the National framework of qualifications click here.   • Part-time evenings
  • Day Release - one day per week

The FETAC Accredited training will be delivered as individual modules or component certificates which may lead to a major award which consists of 6 modules, 4 at Level 6 and 2 at Level 5. If you have already completed the accepted FETAC Level 5 modules they may be used towards the major award. All components have assignments and project work attached. Ideally learners should already be working in a childcare facility. A substantial amount of research is expected outside of classroom time to assist with projects and assignments.

• Four mandatory modules:

  • Child Development Level 6 D30005
  • Early Childhood programmes Level 6 D30176
  • Social and Legal Issues in Childcare Level 6 D30177
  • Supervision in Childcare Level 6 D30178

Two FETAC Level 5 Modules:

  • Caring for Children 0-6 years Level 5 D20159
  • Safety and Health at Work Level 5 D20165


Duration

The components are completed either 1 day block release or 2 evenings per week - length of training hours may vary

 

Qualification/Certification

FETAC Level 6 Component Certificate (s) in Childcare Supervision


Entry

Minimum age requirement is 17 years. Learners whose 1st language is not English may be required to complete an entry assessment. This is an advanced course open to students who hold the FETAC Level 5 Award in Childcare or its equivalent (e.g. CACHE/NNEB, NCEA Childcare, City and Guilds Level 2). This requirement may be waived for mature applicants with suitable prior experience.

Features of the course

This programme has been carefully designed to incorporate both practical and academic components. It will feature reflective diaries, case work studies, practical skills demonstrations, community, work placement, project and assignment work. It also includes work experience.– minimum 6 hours per week.

Fees can be paid in one of two ways:

Per module: €200.00 per module

Please Note the Following:

- No programme will take place where the number of learners does not warrant it.

- Enrolments may take place up to two weeks after the commencement of a programme provided there are vacancies.

- Fees can be paid module by module or in full prior to commencement of a programme. Please contact the office by email or telephone if you wish to avail of this option.

- Fees are non-refundable except where a programme does not take place. In that instance fees will be refunded.
